First meeting of the TOTALmedia 2009 organizing committeeTelefonica, Sony, Samsung, Gimage, Wututu, Barco, Global TV and Beabloo meet at IFEMA, Feria de Madrid, to introduce the second edition of TOTALmedia, the Southern Europe Digital Signage event par excellence.
The show will be held the 30th of September and 1st of October 2009 at IFEMA – Feria de Madrid fairgrounds. Last 12th of February the Organizing Committee of the professional show TOTALmedia met at IFEMA installations in Madrid. The Committee was made up of Francesc Font (Gimage), José Manuel González Suárez, José Luis Jiménez Barrios y José Alfonso Gómez (Telefónica); Rubén Rengel (Barco), Xavier Capellades (Wututu), Epifanio Martín (Sony), Elena Caballero (Samsung), Julio César de la Orden (Global TV), Nadim Ghanem (Beabloo) y Agustín Torres, Luca Llinares y David López (TOTALmedia).
The first matter discussed dealt with the change of venue of the International Show on Digital Signage that, in its second edition, will be held at pavilion number 5 of the IFEMA – Feria de Madrid Fairgrounds the 30th of September and 1st October 2009. The change answers a need to give the event a wider European promotion and a better market positioning. The new venue supposes a step forward for TOTALmedia that will strengthen its image of innovative show gaining, at the same time, better communications and accesses turning the event into the reference in Digital Signage in Southern Europe (Spain, Portugal, France and Italy) with Madrid as center of gravity.
The second edition of TOTALmedia will extend its business areas towards new markets related to the Digital Signage industry such as interactive kiosks. The new ways of market expansion lie in a greater rapprochement to Europe, bringing exhibitors from the Old Continent and basing seminars and conferences on foreign case-histories of success. Advertising and marketing agencies serving as a link between the industrial sector and advertisers will continue to be one of the priority goals of the show. On the other hand, the Organizing Committee praised TOTALmedia specialization compared to other events with a more disperse offer –some fairs even mix paper printers with the new Digital Signage technologies. In this aspect, TOTALmedia’s wide, concrete and exclusive offer based on the dynamic marketing industry will attract specialized visitors interested in this area only.
Sectorial and technological seminarsThe Organizing Committee decided that the program of parallel activities of TOTALmedia, made up of seminars, conferences, forums and technical courses will be organized on a sectorial basis, thus, seminars will focus on different aspects of Digital Signage –Health, Banking, Retail, etc. According to these subjects, it was suggested the advisability that conferences were given by the final client and that he/she should explain his/her own experience in the first person. Auditoriums shouldn’t be a sales platform for companies but an exposition of real life experiences contributing information and knowledge. Today’s situation and perspectives for 2009Today’s market situation and the immediate future was another subject discussed by the Organizing Committee. Although there was no unanimity regarding the future, all the committee members admitted that the situation, at the present time, is fairly complicated as far as sales are concerned. The economical crisis affects also Digital Signage. Perspectives for 2009 are negative regarding the volume of commercial actions. Accordingly, it was suggested that this year should be devoted to inform, train and familiarize companies with the opportunities and advantages brought by the Digital Signage technology.
